One aspect of beauty is function. If something works really well and flawless that enhances our aesthetic appreciation of its form.

Take something basic, like say, a beautiful hand made gold faucet in a mansion. If it moves precisely, has no drips, and gives a weighty satisfying feel to either turning on or off water, our experience of its form is enhanced. On the other hand, if it squeaks, drips, and only turns on half way, well...its aesthetic qualities are greatly diminished.

Everquest has some lovely features we've all grown to appreciate over its 9 years of existance BUT, it also has some lovely graphics, like those on the EQPLAYERS web site that do not work. There are currently hundreds of posts about long term problems with missing characters, inaccurate reporting etc. etc. in the forum set up to discuss EQPLAYERS:

Please do recall that beauty works well, EQPLAYERS is not working well.

It was a real pleasure to get a great inside look into SOE. My father bought EQ1 way back when and then EQ2 which had the most phenomenal graphics at the time so i got much respect for your company. Also, I still think StarWars:Galaxies looks really fun never got a change to play but i digress the Game Art and Design program was more of a twinkle in someone's eye a few years ago. The program started actually a few years ago. I graduate in the Animation and Visual Effects program in October and i really love your art team for all the games coming out from SOE. Like i said in Q&A i really am excited for Free Realms even though its out of my age range that goblin w/the pear neckalace and the dress is so hilarious and original. The animation as well looks terrific for age range. Good Luck!
